About
Heidi Deneweth (1961) studied history at Ghent University (Belgium) and graduated in 1983 on a thesis on criminality and gender in seventeenth century Bruges. She has been working as a librarian, documentalist and researcher for several years. In 2008 she promoted at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel on the PhD-dissertation “Houses and People. Living, building, investing and borrowing in three neighbourhoods of Bruges from the Late Middle Ages until the Nineteenth Century”. She currently works at Utrecht University as a postdoc researcher in the project “The evolution of financial markets in pre-industrial Europe”. Her main interests are household finance, household strategies, inequality, and social and economic history of The Low Countries in the pre-industrial era.
