About

I am an Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature at Utrecht University. My research interests lie in modernist aesthetics and radical politics. Essays of mine have appeared in o.a. Parallax (2009), Culture Machine (2010) and Deleuze Studies (2011). I am currently working on two projects. A first project, A Communism of Form: Theo van Doesburg, De Stijl and the Hyperformalization of Sensation, consists of a critical revaluation of ‘the life of the form’ in modernist and avant-garde art and aesthetics. A second project, in collaboration with Professor Frans-Willem Korsten (Leiden/Rotterdam), deals with the irresolvable dialectic between time and capital in modern politics. In June 2010 we hosted a conference called Waiting for the Political Moment. We are now working on Moment, Event, Revolution – a collection of essays on the same topic.

Other (not quite so academic) interests of mine are noise, 1980s punk, and DIY.
